Is it really time for a REAL change? Again?

"When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

I read this today and think it may be time for us to start thinking about how our current federal government is working. Allowing the House of Representatives to pass the Senate's version of Health Care Destruction without even having each and every member's vote ON RECORD is devious, cowardly, and dastardly. Even trying to convince your Representative that you do not support the Health Care Destruction bill as written can get you into trouble. For example, a constituent attempted to lobby his Representative (Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA-10)) and was repeatedly hung up on my one of the staff members. Finally, she said she would contact the Capitol Police if he called again. Well, he called and was transferred to the Capitol Police who curtly informed him that he could be charged with a crime to “harass” congressional members and staff pursuant to 47 U.S.C. 223. So, we can't even call them anymore without being threatened with a "FEDERAL CRIME"?

Sorry. That dog don't hunt.

The members of Congress work for US! They don't work for the Speaker of the House. Senate Majority leader, or even, God forbid, the POTUS. Sometimes, the members of Congress will vote against what I want and that's OK. But when nearly 70% of the American public don't want them to vote for something, they should listen and listen closely.

I don't necessarily want a violent take-over of this Government. No. But I think it's high time we consider dissolving this union and starting over. Texas should take the first step and secede to begin a new government responsive to the Constitution and to the People.
